So you cannot pretend with a horse!

It knows if you are afraid and if you are hiding this.

It recognises fear and weakness as well as joy and confidence.

Our herd are at liberty to choose to stay or to leave and watch from a safe distance.

They are used to people but like all new acquaintances, they check us out and respond accordingly.

If we come too close without invitation, they move away. If we are fearful, they move away until our fear abates.

If we pretend, they stay at a safe distance until they are sure we mean no harm.

If we are full of false bravado, they suss us out!

They are wise, they protect themselves and expect us to do the same.
